Healing to the People Summit Convening

A Revolution in Whole-Person Healing: Bridging Communities, Cultures, and Care

Oakland & Berkeley, CA – Freedom Community Clinic (FCC) proudly announces the inaugural Healing to the People Summit Convening, taking place from Friday, September 19 to Sunday, September 21, 2025, at Ed Roberts Campus in Berkeley, CA and various community sites in Oakland, CA. This multi-day summit will unite leaders and community members across the health and healing sectors to co-create new paradigms for Whole-Person Healing and catalyze a health revolution that centers cultural wisdom, justice, and the inherent power within every individual to heal.

“Each patient carries his own doctor inside him. They come to us not knowing that truth. We are at our best when we give the doctor who resides within each patient a chance to go to work.” – Albert Schweitzer

The Healing to the People Summit Convening offers a transformative platform for healers, health professionals, community leaders, and educators to collaborate in healing and wellness work that affirms the dignity of every individual and community.

Vision and Mission of the Summit

The Summit envisions a health revolution for the people, one that brings together diverse voices to create inclusive, sustainable models of Whole-Person Healing. It aims to bridge sectors such as Indigenous leadership, complementary and alternative medicine, food justice, academia, medical schools, artists, mutual aid groups, and more. The mission is to uplift critical dialogue and form collaborative partnerships that serve communities, addressing health disparities caused by systemic poverty, racism, and inequality.

A Gathering of Healers, Leaders, and Change-Makers

Who: The Summit will be attended by individuals and collectives who are committed to holistic, whole-person healing across multiple disciplines. This includes on-the-ground community organizers, health professionals, medical schools, complementary medicine practitioners (acupuncture, massage, traditional Chinese medicine), food justice advocates, artists, farmers, mutual aid groups, and many others from across the globe.

What: This convening will feature keynote speakers, community panels, roundtable discussions, workshops, and collaborative sessions designed to foster connection, innovation, and shared learning. It is an opportunity for participants to align their work, amplify their impact, and expand their collective vision for health and healing in our communities.

Why: At FCC, we believe in a health paradigm that honors the interconnectedness of mind, body, spirit, culture, and social justice. By blending ancestral wisdom with the strengths of Western medicine, we aim to challenge the disease-centered, profit-driven models that currently dominate healthcare. The Summit is a critical step in building a health movement rooted in community and culture, where each individual re-engages with the healer within themselves.

Our Values and Community Promise

FCC is committed to values that guide our work and mission:

  • Whole-Person Healing: We believe healing transcends medical settings, happening within communities through shared experiences and celebrations.

  • Culture as Medicine: We honor the healing power of cultural practices, including dance, language, and rituals, as integral to wellness.

  • Community-Centered: Our work is deeply responsive to the needs of the communities we serve, emphasizing partnership and collaboration.

  • Intergenerational Power: We believe in the wisdom of elders and the vitality of youth coming together to heal the mind, body, and spirit.

  • Racial Justice: We prioritize healing for Black, Brown, and immigrant communities who have historically been denied adequate care.

  • Pushing Boundaries: We envision a health revolution that uplifts under-resourced communities and brings care to those who need it most.

The First Nationwide Study on Holistic and Integrative Health

As part of the Summit, FCC will be launching the first nationwide study on systemic barriers and solutions to holistic healing and integrative health for Black, Brown, and immigrant communities. This study will be ongoing and will be launched in a special event on March 2025. The findings from this research will inform future healing practices and advocacy efforts, with a focus on dismantling the barriers that have historically excluded these communities from holistic health solutions.

Community Panels and Roundtable Discussions

In the lead-up to the Summit, FCC will host a series of community panels at healing centers and community sites throughout Oakland, bringing together local and industry leaders to address critical interdisciplinary issues in community healing that will be further addressed in the September event. These panels will explore solutions to health inequities, amplify marginalized voices, and foster cross-sector partnerships that can drive lasting change.

Join Us for a Transformative Experience
