Beecology 101: Native Bees and Flowers and responsible Honey Bee Stewardship
FCC’s People’s Pollinator Project aims to heal relationships between human and pollinator kin through accessible education and responsible land stewardship. Join us as we launch our first workshop, Beecology 101: The Flowers Hold the Power!
This intimate gathering will have a capacity of 10 participants, so be sure to RSVP at the link in our bio to sign up.
Did you know Turtle Island is home to over 4,000 native bee species and 700 butterfly species? Or that your tomatoes are likely pollinated by bumble bees?
Together, we will learn how to support and uplift native pollinator health in our communities, plant native flowers, and better understand the need for responsible management of non-native honey bees.
Participants will engage in activities to deepen their learning and connection with pollinators:
🐝 Bee Watering Station – Learn how to support bees during drought by painting and placing bee watering stations. (Take-home: DIY instructions to create your own station!)
🌸 Native Wildflower Seed Mixes – Explore the relationship between native CA wildflowers and pollinators while creating custom seed blends/balls. (Take-home: A mix of native wildflower seeds, including milkweed!)
